Idichakka Thoran (Kerala Style)/Tender Young Green Jack Fruit Thoran

We can prepare a very different recipe,ie Idichakka Thoran / Tender Green jack Fruit Thoran.


Ingredients :
Tender Jack Fruit (Idichakka) : 1/2 kg(Chopped into fine pieces)
Green Chillies : 10 no.
Turmeric Powder :  1/2 tsp
Salt : As reqd.
Garlic : 3-4 no
Grated Coconut : 1/2 Cup
Mustard Seeds : 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds : 1/4 tsp
Dry Red Chilies : 3-4 no


Preparation of Idichakka Thoran :-
  • Grind the coconut with green chillies,turmeric powder,garlic,cumin seeds.
  • Cook the jack fruit(it will take max. 10 to 15 min) and mash the pieces.
  • Heat oil in a a pan.
  • Add mustard seeds,when it splutter,add red chillies & curry leaves.
  • Add the mashed jack fruit and the ground coconut mixture,mix it well.
  • Cover the pan and allow it to cook for 15 min.(Remember the jack fruit is already cooked)
  • Serve it with rice.

Vendakka Mezhukkupuratti



What we need :
Okra(Vendakka) : 1/2 kg
Onion : 1 no(sliced)
Green Chillies : 3 no
Turmeric Powder : 2 pinch
Coconut Cuts : 6 no
Coconut Oil : 4 tsp
Salt : As reqd.
Time to prepare : 30 min.




Preparation of Vendakka Mezhukkupuratti(Okra Fry) :
1)Wash and clean the okra.
2)Cut them into 1inch pieces.
3)Heat oil in the pan and add sliced onion & green chillies.
4)Saute it until onions get transparent.
5)Add turmeric powder & salt and mix it well.
6)Add okra & coconut cuts and mix well.Mix it every five minutes(Add little bit more oil if it gets sticky).
7)Cook until it is tender.
8)Serve it with rice/chappathi.



Mambazha Puliserry


What we need :
Ripe Mango(Nattu Mambazham)  : 3 - 4 no
Green Chillies : 3
Cumin Seeds(Jeerakam) : 1/4 tsp
Red Chillies(Kollamulaku) : 3 - 4no
Chilli Powder : 1 tsp
Turmeric powder : 1/2 tsp
Fenugreek Powder(Uluva) : 1/4 tsp
Grated Coconut : 2 Cup
Mustard Seeds : 1 tsp
Coconut Oil : 4 tsp
Curry leaves : 1 stem
Water : 1/2 Cup
Salt : As reqd.
Yoghurt : 2 cup
Cooking Time : 15 min.
Preparation of Mambazha Pulissery:
1)Peel the mango and boil it in water along with green chillies & salt.
2)Grind the coconut with cumin seeds, turmeric powder & chilli powder to a fine paste and add this paste to the boiling mango.
3)Blend the Yoghurt for making it smooth and add this to the the mixture(don't allow the yoghurt to split).
4)Heat the coconut oil in a pan.
5)Add mustard seeds and when they crackle,add red chillies & curry leaves.
6)Add the above into the mango curry and stir well.
7)Add Uluva powder and mix well.


Now we can taste it(please remember, the curry will be hot).Woww..really tasty...please try it..
